Arriving in Gdansk

There is a word used in Scotland when the weather is cold, “Baltic”.

“Aye ma pal, it’s Baltic the day!”

As you can imagine, it is Baltic quite often.

We have arrived in Gdansk, a Polish city right on the Baltic sea and currently it is 21°c, it is supposed to get up to 34°c this week!

Not exactly Baltic.

We rode along the very new looking train line from the very new looking airport. All very new looking since they invested heavily for the Euro 2012 tournament, held here and in the Ukraine 4 years ago.

We arrived at Gdansk Glowny, low on energy. A British guy on the train told us that Poland had just bet the Ukraine in the current Euro 2016 tournament.

As we emerged from the station it was clear that the people of Gdansk were happy about that.

Polish flags everywhere, Red and White shirts and wigs. People blowing horns and singing songs. The few cars that were on the street had polish flags stuck to the side of them.

This is my 4th time in Poland and every time is different. Great start to a trip through Eastern Europe.
