68 days since we packed up our lives in Edinburgh for the long journey home.
Today was a 43° day! That simply doesn’t happen where I am from. We walked around the deserted streets of Seville, darting between air-conditioned tapas bars and cafes.
Seville is yet another European city that is older than the country I grew up in.
Another city that I will miss when Jess and I go back to New Zealand.
We left a life in Scotland to start a new one in Auckland.
Traveling in between is an odd, limbo-like, state.
Starting a new life in a city isn’t easy. I have done it enough times to know. The best way? Go all in and spend whatever time you have ticking off the to do list.
Right now the to do list is in the back of my mind, whispering to me while I’m trying to enjoy the europe I know I will miss.
Luckily Spain is very distracting. The food, the weather and most of all – the people!
We have been super fortunate on this trip. We have stayed with friends that we owe more than we could repay. We have Learned little bits of the language and we have also managed to eat some snails. The taste was ok but the texture and appearance was too snail like.
It is sad leaving Europe. We have done so much in this last year. Many things that will stay with us for a long time. But hey, we live in the 21st century. New Zealand is a few months of saving and a 24 hour flight away. Long gone are the days of 3 month one-way boat rides.
Day 68 was a good day and Portugal is next, so more to come!
